Oakleigh Fairs, in conjunction with Cambridge City Council, Cambridge Newspapers and Q103 is delighted to announce a brand new event taking place this summer right in the heart of Cambridge.
The Cambridge Town & Country Show will take place over the weekend of 9 & 10 June 2007 on Parker’s Piece and will be opened by the Mayor of Cambridge. The purpose of the Show is to provide the people of Cambridge and surrounding areas with a memorable day(s) out for all the family. Arena acts will include the famous Richard Savory Sheep Show and Sheepdog display, Birds of Prey display and Kondini ‘The Human Toolbox’. There will be a children’s entertainment marquee with puppet, magic and Punch & Judy shows. We will have demonstrations of rural skills as well as a medieval story teller and a multi-tented historical re-enactment village. Working steam engines will also be on site. There will be an opportunity for the public to sample and buy in our arts, crafts and gift marquee as well as Lifestyle and Food Hall.
Trade stands are also available.
There is no entrance fee, but some activities such as the children’s fairground and inflatables will carry a minimum charge. The event will be fully catered and there will be a licensed bar, but there will be no pop tribute acts or bands and the show will close by 6pm.
As this is a brand new event for Cambridge, but one that we all hope and expect to become very much part of the Cambridge diary, it is difficult to estimate visitor numbers. However, Oakleigh Fairs who promote over ten other similar events all around the South East every year, predict that visitor numbers should be strong, even in this inaugural year.
