Long Melford Midsummer Craft & Country Show

Long Melford is to launch its first country show this summer which promises to become a highlight of the region's social calendar. This year the show is giving proceeds to the Long Melford Church Appeal; this historic Church is one of the most important church heritage sites in the country and is in need of considerable restoration.

Oakleigh Fairs, who are organising the show on behalf of the Long Melford Church Appeal Committee, are delighted that Sir William and Lady Hyde Parker have very generously agreed to let the event take place in the grounds of Melford Hall.

There will be something for everyone – from Billy Kinghorn’s Sheep Show, to Cyril the Squirrel terrier racing; as well as agility dogs, Kennel Club dog competitions, falconry and birds of prey displays, or you might also enjoy a hands-on activity such as have-a-go bakery.

Children's entertainment will include traditional Punch & Judy shows, donkey rides and a children's farm. There will also be inflatables and a children's fairground (charge applies).

Magnificent Suffolk Punches, antique farm machinery displays, as well as rural demonstrations, including hurdle making, besom brooms, pole lathing, stick furniture making as well as spinning and braiding will whet your interest in how life was lived in past times.

Then, why not sample, browse and buy unique products in our Arts, Crafts & Gifts marquees, as well as the Lifestyle and Food Hall. The event is fully catered and there is a licensed bar.

Trade stands are available and we welcome interest from Associations and Special Interest Groups who wish to participate.

Also at this event, we're proud to host the Kennel Club Companion Dog Show.
