The Grantchester Fair
The Meadows, Grantchester, Cambridgeshire, CB3 9NDIt is unlikely you will ever forget the sight of the river as it gently meanders between the historic 'Backs' of the Cambridge Colleges along the meadows, up to Grantchester. For those who don’t know it, Grantchester is the quintessential English village and inspiration for Rupert Brooke’s famous poem which includes the lines 'now stands the clock at ten to three and is there honey still for tea?'
The Meadow is framed by the Church and village on one side and the river on the other – a perfect setting for a traditional Country Fair – but within an easy walk, bike or even punt ride from Cambridge City Centre both for residents and tourists who throng the local area at this time of year.
Entertainment will include the magnificent and increasingly rare Suffolk Punch horses, birds of prey and falconry displays, medieval re-enactment village including fighting knights, sheep sheering, working and agility dogs as well as rural demonstrations. Arts, craft and gift marquees as well as lifestyle and food hall stands will give you the chance to sample and buy unique products. Children's entertainer, bouncy castles and fairground (charges apply)
Also at this event, we're proud to host the Companion Dog Show.
