The Horkesley Park Suffolk Punch Heavy Horse Display Team
This is one of the many Acts and Events at Oakleigh Fairs shows.
The Suffolk Punch horses are really magnificent animals - the rarest of all heavy horses the Suffolk Punch is critically endangered and on Category 1 of the endangered species Watchlist. The Suffolk Punches love attention so come and meet them at the next event and find out about heritage farming, timber logging, driving, ploughing, hoeing and much, much more...
The Horkesley Park Suffolk Punch Heavy Horse Display team take their Suffolks to various shows (dates of where they can be seen at Oakleigh Fairs events are below) to promote the breed and stimulate interest in them. The team provide a mixture of static displays, giving you the opportunity to meet the horses and talk to the horsemen, and demonstrations in the ring which shows off the 'power of the punch' and demonstrates their historic role to present generations.
The Suffolk Punch was developed for agricultural work rather than road haulage, and all the Suffolks have a working purpose: they can do everything a tractor can – just a bit slower! The Suffolks work the land at The Anchor's Heritage Farm in the picturesque village of Nayland on the Essex/Suffolk border, as well as conservation work, film work, wedding transportation and much, much more…
The Display team and the Suffolks look forward to seeing you soon!
